“Augusta Grown,” Delvin T. Howard Sr. is a lifelong resident of Augusta and a proud graduate of Richmond County public schools. His roots in this community run deep, and his commitment to its future is personal.
Delvin is a father of two sons who attend Richmond County schools, giving him a personal
understanding of the hopes parents have for their children and the responsibility leaders carry. Raised in a family known throughout Augusta for hard work, service, and the legacy of Howard’s Upholstery, Delvin learned that leadership is not simply about holding a title. It is about listening, serving others, and doing the work required to make a difference.
His commitment to public education is demonstrated through years of direct service. Delvin served for two years as president of the C.T. Walker Magnet School Council. He later served for one year as both School Council President and PTO President at Richmond County Technical Magnet School. Through these roles, he worked alongside parents, teachers, administrators, and community partners, gaining firsthand insight into the needs of students and educators. Delvin is also a local business owner. His experience in business has taught him the importance of accountability, responsible budgeting, teamwork, and problem-solving. He understands resources must be managed carefully with both thoughtful planning and measurable results. For more than 10 years, Delvin has served as the co-founder of Blessing Our Community, an outreach effort created to meet the practical needs of Augusta residents. His work in the community reflects a long-standing commitment to service — not just during an election season, but throughout his life.
Delvin is running for the Richmond County Board of Education because he believes families deserve leadership that is accessible, accountable, and focused on results. He believes parents should be heard, teachers should be respected and supported, and students should have access to the opportunities and resources they need to succeed.
Delvin is committed to making decisions based on what is best for students. He believes lasting progress happens when families, educators, businesses, faith leaders, and community members work together around a shared purpose. That belief is at the heart of his campaign:
THE EQUATION
Community + Parents + Students = Success
